Train to Tampere

Booking the train ticket seemed a little like shopping in nearby Leningrad was when mrs maytrees and I visited there some 40 years  ago. First you collect a number; then wait;  then one is called; then you have to decide exactly what times  and days to travel on and finally in what precise seats. Some of this of course applies to train travel in England and elsewhere but then usually for cheap tickets. This procedure seems to apply to all train tickets in Finland.

However the trains are fast comfortable and double deck. The latter are still only pipe dreams in England. Meanwhile Leningrad is again St Petersburg.

I should add that even second class  train passengers  in Finland can access free internet.
