There is in today's Times newspaper, an interesting piece by Jonathan Romain, the rabbi of Maidenhead Synagogue.
Rabbi Romain writes about chance meetings, under his article's title reading;
"You must play your part in opportunities God brings".
His article describes how chance meetings can change the lives of those involved. One chance meeting describes, concerns a man taking a breather from skiing when he met a group also taking a breather. He chatted to one of the women in the group for a moment. Some time later they were married. Another chance meeting Rabbi Romain describes, affected Wendy. She was having difficulty parking her car in a narrow space. A passer by gave her a helping hand and they are now husband and wife.
My own chance meeting as described in my autobiography, The Wandering Soul, occurred when in Ireland with my friend John, shortly before we both commenced work as trainee solicitors; he in a City firm and myself in a small firm in Pimlico. John pointed out two girls who were hitch hiking. Despite the pouring rain he stopped. We kept in touch and I married one of the girls.
Forty eight years, four children and two grand children, later, we are still going.
