A Walk in the Park

Being my turn to select the route for the occasional long hike by younger siblings' and myself, I compiled the course of; walking from home, up to Wimbledon Common, thence down to Beverley Brook, through to playing fields, from there over the A3 trunk road via the horse crossing  then through Robin Hood Gate and  the beginning of our Richmond Park part of the trek, along the track around the Park's edge.

The weather on Wednesday this week was ideal for walking being sunny but not too hot.

A  highlight of the walk was lunch at Pembroke Lodge which is about two thirds of the way anti-clockwise  round Richmond Park from Robin Hood Gate.

The hot lunch meal there is available only between noon and two thirty pm but is inexpensive and  the food was plentiful and delicious with thankfully, a free bottle of cold water.

After lunch we continued the walk back  in the continuing sunshine, to Robin Hood Gate, Beverley Brook once more thence over the Common to Wimbledon Village where we had tea at the new independent tea shop there, Demitasse. There was nothing about the tea shop that signified a chain. The tea was delicious with unusual varieties to choose from and the china was most attractive; slightly pricey but worthwhile nonetheless.

The walk then ended after tea with a mileage count of about 15 miles; phew!
