Tate Britain - Turner Prize Exhibition

Younger brother suggested yesterday a spontaneous visit to the Tate Britain to see the Turner Prize Exhibition. Having seen this exhibition in past years, for example when Tracy Emin lay on her messy bed in one of the exhibition rooms, I appreciated that 'fine art' it was unlikely to be.

South Western Railways had signalling issue  so we were somewhat delayed on the journeys to and from Vauxhall from where there was a walk to Tate Britain over the bridge.

Upon arrival slightly later than planned, we decided first to visit the Regency Cafe in nearby Pimlico. This  cafe I recollect from Witham Weld days, was then a rather dingy cafe. Years later in 2025 it has four plus, stars in popularity stakes and there was  large queue before we  could be served. The food was basic but decent and  not expensive.

The exhibition itself was worth a visit though provoked a discussion about the meaning of the relatively new adjective, "woke".

Eventually though, whilst walking home I met a local friend who told me that the exhibition had only received a 1* review in The Times. I agreed with this review enjoyable though the day had been and concluded that a brief meaning of the adjective "woke" is simply 1*.

Many thanks to younger brother for this spontaneous day out and for the  Regency Cafe lunch.
