Fulking West Sussex

On Sunday last Mrs maytrees and I spent an enjoyable afternoon with sister in law and younger brother at the Fulking fete or is it called a fair in that West Sussex village.

For lunch we had some delicious Galettes made to order from  two servers from an ancient French van on site

Some pictures appear below:

Younger brother and I decided to climb the nearby South Downs, which  climb was hard but well worthwhile.

At the summit of the Downs, the view was excellent though in the distance we could see the huge fire caused by so many unbroken days of sunshine with so little rain; indeed that fire featured later on the evening news.

The sitting on bales of hay to listen to the live folk and pop groups was especially enjoyable and reminded me that apart from The Hollies in Cannizaro Park Wimbledon a few years ago -  The Hollies - I had not been to a pop concert since my twenties.

Tea and cakes had been put on at the old The Fulking village hall. The cakes were homemade, inexpensive and delicious, as will be seen from the picture above (second row right hand side) of Mrs maytrees.

The village is some five miles from Brighton but the drive home via younger brother's home in Guildford, was straightforward enough.
