Happy and Holy Christmas

Christmas 2023  is falling towards the end of a very difficult year.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the slaughter of the innocents in Israel and Palestine which the United Nations appears unwilling so far to pass any meaningful resolutions about, come to mind.

The Catholic Church on the other hand seems to be embracing mankind more, despite our failings. The blessings of homosexual couples would have been unheard of until recently as would the recognition that people who are divorced may freely  receive holy communion.

Hopefully women priests will follow soon.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian refugees living locally, Christmas trees in the local church, the long delayed ending of all Covid-19 restrictions and a parish priest whose sermons are not too long, are together  perhaps swelling the numbers attending Mass in Wimbledon.

A very Happy  and Holy Christmas to all who read this blog,
