Historic Postage Stamps and Coins

Jennifer was  the younger of my two  older sisters both of whom  died in 2022. Years previously,  I recollect her giving me some of her stamp and coin collection, which I have just uncovered again.

In Jennifer's twenties, she traveled to the Soviet Union and sent one or two cards home, including this one, though not speaking Russian I have no idea which of the Russian  space adventures this represents; sadly not Yuri Gagarin's feat of being the first man who travelled into space:

She also gave me  a QE II 1951 Festival of Britain Crown. Presumably the Festival of Britain was conceived as a way of cheering the nation up somewhat after the hideous, murderous WWII:

Maytrees max went to the local street Silver Jubilee party celebrating the 50th year of QEII on the throne and was presented with the interesting coin of the then HM Prince Charles and the now tragically deceased Lady Diana, who was  at that time Princess of Wales.

Then there is the stamp (below left) showing the Nubian Monuments being brought up to a higher level on the Nile,  to avoid the flooding caused by the construction of the then new Aswan  Dam

And some images (below right) recently copied in emails to family

Stanley Gibbons  the London stamp dealer, was recently saved from insolvency after what was perhaps an unwise investment but I trust will now thrive.
