Walking Away Life's Blues

On Wednesday this week a long walk avoiding roads and traffic as far as possible, seemed an excellent way of boosting morale, especially as the day was sunny and not too cold.

As an aside, the advice from the government or more probably the National Health Service seems quite absurd. Their advice appears to be that for a  reasonably healthy individual, exercise of some one and a half hours a week should be apt. I may have misunderstood but if that is correct the increasing weight and waistlines  of many in the UK, is likely to be at least a partial result.

Post retirement there is of course more time to exercise but even whilst at work walking from home to and from Wimbledon Station and likewise as regards the office, Vauxhall station  or latterly  London Waterloo and Temple Stations, plus a lunchtime stroll  would take a total of more than one and a half hours daily.

The above is a digression though. Wednesday's great three hour walk  started in Wimbledon, thence to the Common, through to Beverley Brook, onto  some rugby grounds, then over the horse path to  Richmond Park's Robin Hood Gate, through to Penn Ponds, on to The Isabella Plantation, past Pembroke Lodge, out via Richmond Gate, down to Richmond Station, then train to Raynes Park and the final walking stretch home from there; photos below though I have not yet mastered how to organise photos on the blog, timewise:

Overall a bracing and indeed therapeutic  afternoon.
