Tea, by which I mean the drink rather than cakes tea and sandwiches at 4pm, is very enjoyable, though the latter ie the drink, is often different in France than in the UK and Ireland.
The French have some great cafes which specialise in tea though of course they will also sell cakes and even coffee. True, most of the cafes in England also sell tea other than the 'normal' black tea-bagged variety but their offerings are generally few and tea-bagged.
Real tea, even say Earl Grey, does because of its caffeine component, like coffee, affect normal sleeping patterns.
In essence drinking real tea in the afternoon, for some reason, often precludes a deep sleep caused as signified above, by the presence of caffeine in tea apparently more than in coffee, whereas drinking an herbal tea has no apparent adverse affect on one's sleeping pattern.
So what are great herbal teas? Dried Hibiscus Flower tastes delicious as does peppermint tea, though chamomile is only in my view ok as regards as regards its taste. South African Rooibus tea is excellent though needs a little getting used to. Concoctions like lemon and ginger tea are occasionally worth trying as well. Jasmine tea can be delicious but unfortunately is often mixed by the vendor with too much Indian tea.
Overall though, any loose leaf tea tastes far superior in my humble opinion, than tea bagged tea.
The Leaf Tea Shop sells many types of unbagged tea and their photograph of Blood Orange Rooibos looks excellent. I have not tasted this yet but intend to do so.
