The Goring Hotel - Lunch

Youngest sister kindly gave mrs maytrees and I a lunch/teatime treat for the Goring Hotel at 3pm on Tuesday this week.

Taking the District Line from Wimbledon to Victoria was straightforward as was the short walk to the Hotel from Victoria Station.

We were greeted and offered either a bar stool or a table and chose the latter on which see above.

Mrs maytrees enjoyed a Goring hamburger whereas for me it was a lobster omelette. We both had  a delicious  cocktail which I recollect were named Pink Flamingos, containing champagne some vermouth and blossom flower.

Later, whilst  we were  waiting  for our meals  to be prepared, I ventured into The Goring garden where games of croquet were afoot.

Mrs maytrees' Goring burger arrived slightly ahead of my lobster omelette but both were delicious. The delightful Hungarian waitress was so concerned at the slight delay in the arrival of the lobster omelette, that she waived the cost, which was some £30, from  the total.

Interestingly the waitress resided in Pimlico where of course I had worked for some 45 years Pimlico so there was much to discuss. She then insisted in trying to match  food and drink cost with the amount of our voucher.

After enjoying some delicious teas and coconut scones she had suggested, the total bill including tip was just 55p short of our voucher total so an excellent afternoon.
