AELTC 2022

For four days in June 2022, for some reason the AELTC gave locals  the opportunity of buying a maximum of two  tickets a piece for the grand slam tennis.

As a result I was able to buy two tickets, Mrs maytrees kindly permitted the second ticket to be used by youngest sister who is a tennis enthusiast. The tickets were for the tennis on Sunday 3rd July and we walked to the AELTC.

Interestingly the club sells tickets these days upon the basis that a mobile phone should be used to download the electronic version so that paper tickets are not usually issued. My iPhone 6 proved to be just too old for such downloading but the tennis officials were happy with proof of ID, to provide paper tickets at the gate - and we were in with little fuss.

The grounds are these days beautifully laid out with ample room for wandering about. There are  stalls for strawberries and cream  and others for light meals though all these had some queues.

Youngest sister had booked a full lunch at the Wingfield Restaurant, out of gratitude for her ticket although the lunch proved more expensive than the tennis tickets.

The waitress serving us said she was  medical student and was fortunate enough to secure the work at the AELTC each year to help with her funding.

Some piccies of the tennis we saw are below:

Our  excellent day out  concluded with the walk back to Wimbledon Village and thence  for me home, with youngest sister taking her train home from Wimbledon Station.
