Dublin Wedding

Not having travelled outside the UK since   attending  the Davis Cup 2019 in Madrid Madrid Davis Cup travelling last Sunday to Dublin for the wedding of the niece of mrs maytrees was very enjoyable as well as interesting.

Enjoyment and fun were amplified by  maytrees max flying over from Jersey where he too had not been abroad since the pandemic began; maytrees ma taking time out (only a quick 24 hours) from her children to attend together with maytrees min who is braving travel restrictions further by travelling this week with a friend to Greece, I believe to the Peloponnese.

London City Airport was an excellent starting point though the nearby London Marathon on at the time put paid to out taxi arrangements though the Docklands Light Railway was quick and easy.

Not having visited Greece since the 1970s, Greece in the '70s I will be curious to see how they enjoy their visit.

The wedding was  wonderful as was the reception at a nearby Margo Pierre White Michelin star restaurant. Photos probably do not do the events justice but here goes anyway:

The following day travelling alone by train to Shankill as mrs maytrees preferred to rest a while

The Dart railway was almost empty though the three ticket inspectors who boarded the train at one point were able to check quickly that the three passengers all had tickets.

High tide was in as the photos above illustrate and I enjoyed the wind surf and the pounding of the waves on the beach though the sea was too rough for me to descend beyond the safety railings.

Interesting to see from the train window the excellent new Lansdowne Road rugby stadium as well as the surprisingly small Google HQ.

Later the sister of mrs maytrees kindly treated us to meals and walks in the Wicklow mountains:

A lovely first escape from Covid-19 travel restrictions
