Russia's War on Ukraine

The refusal by the United Nations to describe the bombings killings and besieging of  the Ukraine by Russia under Putin, as a war on  the Ukraine, leads to this blog post.

My understanding is that the correct title of the country in C21 is simply "Ukraine" as the word "the" before the country's name, may be frowned on by some Ukrainians who regard it as signifying incorrectly, that Ukraine is but a province of Russia rather than an independent nation. However the English language in this area can be misleading.

One wonders what the point of the United Nations is unless it has always been set up to be a mere talking shop for the membership countries, as "united" they certainly are not.

Interestingly, the annual  Russian parades in Moscow are due to take place on Monday 9th May. These parades are supposed to reflect the outcome of World War II in some way though I gather that it is Vladimir Putin who has really revived them into major presidential demos, encouraged  presumably, by Western boycotts  of the parades for the past few years, based I believe, on the Russian takeover of The Crimea (or should that be simply "Crimea?") which  the UK and other countries, did little to halt. Of course Russia delayed commencing its war on Ukraine until after the Chinese Winter Olympic Games were complete.

Possibly barring Russian teams and players from entering international sporting events will prove more decisive in convincing  ordinary Russian people, that   Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark.

However, unless peace on decent terms is agreed soon, banning Russia from the next Olympic Games in Paris is surely on the cards, although President Macron would  be somewhat unhappy at such an ban, as indeed would any country's leader but leadership sadly involves unhappiness on occasion.

Meanwhile the sight of so many children, the age of the maytrees'  grandchildren, suffering and worse from Russian Presidential greed is dreadful.

Let love reign in Eastern Europe again.
