Gordon Ramsay and Chelsea Physic Garden Cheyne Walk

Youngest sister, having kindly given me a birthday present of lunch for two at Gordon Ramsay's Michelin starred  restaurant in Cheyne Walk London, lunch for mrs maytrees and myself was eventually booked for yesterday just after noon.

The morning started with our both becoming soaked during a brief shower as we walked to Wimbledon station but fortunately the rain had ceased by the time we arrived  at Cheyne Walk SW3. Being a little early we spent a brief interlude at the nearby Chelsea Physic Garden which was established as long ago as  1673, to grow plants used at medicines.

The garden was fascinating even on a wet November's morning as perhaps   the two following pictures illustrate:

The Garden though slightly expensive to enter was educational and very interesting. The garden shop had some cards depicting The Scarlet Malachite beetle, pictured below, which is apparently one of the UK's rarest insects:

Subsequently we attended Gordon Ramsay's neighbouring restaurant which we had visited a few years ago; see

Our lunch yesterday was excellent though but for youngest sister's kindness would have been almost unaffordable for us especially as we added to the cost by tasting the delicious wine, Champagne and to finish, Chinese tea,  coffee and chocolates.

The food was exquisite as the pictures  below illustrate.

The service was brilliant and the whole occasion really enjoyable.

Subsequently we waited briefly, for a bus back to Clapham Junction. Perhaps those who live in SW3 need different type of bus stops to those elsewhere. In SW19 bus stops have details of the next buses to arrive on display  usually in clear but relatively unattractive orange light. In SW3, there is a large computer in the bus shelter. Prospective passengers may freely use this for the purposes of inter alia, having maps of nearby buses and locations displayed, not to mention an iPhone charging facility. Details of the next buses to arrive are shown delicately in white lights.

A very enjoyable day.
