My oldest friend from Beaumont College died yesterday

John and I were on holiday driving in Ireland in his old Ford Anglia  car, some 50 years ago when he stopped in the pouring rain, to pick up two girl hitch hikers. 

One of the two hitch hikers became mrs maytrees.
